Make a place where your child isn’t excluded or put in time out, but instead learn how to teach self management, how to respond when your preschooler has a tantrum, or how to manage hitting, kicking, not sharing. He’s not a bad kid, and you aren’t a bad mom.

My Story

My parenting journey started out hard. Like many parents, I was overwhelmed with tasks, schedules, and routines. I was consumed by the minutiae of the day to day, just trying to make it through, and I was preoccupied with how it all looked from the outside in. I definitely wasn’t enjoying myself.

How could I get it all done in the day? Everything was so chaotic. How many more hours until bedtime?

In the meantime all you hear is “you only have 18 summers better make the most of them!” Whew. How stressful. How much pressure. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Over time, using my experience as a parent and my background as a behavior specialist, I began to figure out how to pick out what was important to me, and to my child and parenting in a way that was aligned with my values. I began to realize that with the right environmental set up, schedule, and rhythm to our day, we all felt more at ease and present. I didn’t raise my voice as much. I could let my kids explore freely and safely, which allowed me to take a breath and get things done (or drink my coffee). I learned to let go of the fear of what it looks like from the outside in, and instead embody what it can feel like from the inside out.

My journey has been about learning more self regulation skills, appreciating my children’s unique journey of unfolding into who they are, and developing faith that with respectful support, safe boundaries, and a reverence for our relationship, they will turn out ok. This is blended with my background and experience as a pediatric behavior specialist and early educator, and my understanding of developmental norms (trust me it is so freeing when you start expecting your three year old to act like a three year old).

My hope is that if this resonates for you, I can help you find the same quiet confidence, rhythm in your day, and joy in your parenting experience as I have felt. This doesn’t mean there won’t be hard moments and days, there always will be, but when you are parenting in an aligned, and embodied way, you will have the stamina, tools, and confidence to work through those tough days too.

I hope I get to meet you soon! And I know you’re doing a great job.
